Their Story

A strong sense of pride and loyalty to his country compelled Ken to join the US Navy after graduation and he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a decorated A7E pilot. This service took him and his family to Pensacola, Florida, Kingsville, Texas, Meridian, Mississippi, and Lemoore, California. During his service, he completed over 150 missions in Vietnam based on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation. Ken was very modest about his accomplishments but was a double centurion with over 200 “cat shots” from the aircraft carrier deck. He was also “best on the ball” during two line periods with perfect landings. You can read and/or listen to Ken’s Navy experience in his interview archived as part of the Veterans History Project at https://www.loc.gov/vets. He served from 1968 to 1973 retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. He passed away in 2015.
